Converting an overseas licence? You can usually drive on your overseas licence for up to six months after becoming a permanent resident. Drivers from countries with a VicRoads exchange agreement can swap over without testing; everyone else needs a learner permit and a full drive test. Tell us which country issued your licence and roughly how long you've been driving, and we'll assess how many lessons you actually need in your first session - then take you through the Victorian rules that trip most overseas drivers up, including hook turns, trams, roundabouts and school zones. Our car is available on test day.
